FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Absolutely! This will connect to anything that your traditional tyre inflator will connect too, including:
- car/trailer wheels
- inflatable toys
- attachments on your Milwaukee/Ryobi/etc compressor
- wheel burrows
- all Apex Designs tyre valve stems (except for Rapid Inflation Valve, that requires a specific type of valve chuck)
The unique nature of our Push to Connect Fittings means that the inner core of your valve stem will be pushed in 100% of the way instead of 50% of the way.
This allows more air to flow into your tyre, reducing your inflation time.
And if you have the Apex Designs Rapid Precision Valve which is already optimised for a greater inflation flow, pairing it with this Push to Connect Chuck will make it even faster!
3/8" Braided Line - this is perfect for any Apex Designs product that seamlessly connect. For your Milwaukee / Ryobi compressor, this will also work as you need to cut your existing line.
*There is now a new fitting dedicated for the Milwaukee screw on valve which you can also use. Click here for more information.
1/4" NPT - this is for those who have an existing inflation tool and want to screw off their current 'clip' fitting and screw on the Apex Designs Push to Connect fitting. Think ARB / TJM / Generic Inflation gauge.
Open Flow fittings allow continuous air flow even when the fitting is disconnected — meaning air will keep flowing from the coupler side. Air will not be trapped in hose when removed.
Use Open Flow fittings when you want uninterrupted air supply — for example, when connecting to inflation gauges, small compressors, hand pumps, air tools, inflation systems, or manifolds that rely on constant flow. They’re perfect for setups where air pressure must stay live, even when swapping tools.
Closed Flow fittings, on the other hand, automatically shut off air flow when the male plug is removed, preventing air loss or pressure drop. Essentially air will not flow until it is installed on the tyre valve.
Choose Closed Flow fittings when you need safety and control — such as in systems that shouldn’t vent air when disconnected. These fittings automatically seal the air line when unplugged, helping to maintain pressure and prevent debris or moisture from entering the system. Good for multi-tyre inflation, hose reels, larger compressors with a tank.
Can I switch between Open and Closed Flow Fittings?
Yes! Apex Designs’ Push-to-Connect fittings are built for versatility — simply press, release, and swap between open or closed flow adapters as needed. This flexibility lets you tailor your setup for different applications without tools or downtime. Instructions come in the packet with the fitting.
